Burglars just broke in
An elderly woman had just returned to her home from an evening of religious service when she was startled by an intruder. As she caught the man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables, she yelled, "Stop! Acts 2:38!" [Turn from your sin]The burglar stopped dead in his tracks. Then the woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done. As the officer cuffed the man to take him in, he asked the burglar,” Why did you just stand there? All the old lady did was yell a scripture at you." "Scripture?" replied the burglar, "She said she had an axe and two 38s!"

Gustavo’s Job Search / Briana and Vic School

Briana started attending Andrews University, in Berrien Springs, Michigan. She is majoring in Graphic Design. She works in the Art-Technology Department part time and seen to enjoy her college experience. Kath also attends Andrews University. Kath is planning to visit South America with her Language class for a month in May 07. Bri will be watching Daniel during that time.
Victor is back to Mount Vernon Academy for his sophomore year. He is home this week and we enjoy having him around. He is playing soccer in school. Recently his class spent a day helping flood victims in Mansfield, Ohio. Many homes were completely under water. It was a good experience for these young kids to be able to provide such a valuable service. Victor wants to express his gratitude to those who have provided support to help him continue his Christian education at MVA.
I believe my interview at the Toledo Blade Newspaper on 9-6-07 went well. I have a follow up interview on Friday 9-14-07. This position is for Maintenance and Facility Manager. It looks like it could be a lot of work. It is one hour plus drive. We’ll see what happens. Please keep us in your prayers. Thanks.

Sobi & Al Mission Trip-Africa

We are leaving Nairobi today (9-7) for Johannesburg, and then after a 10 day safari we go to Cape Town until the 22nd. Juni (Gustavo) asked me how is Kenya?
Kenya is just like your mom's farm. The soil is red, lots of farms, hills, people waking all the time going to and from school, market, work, and other places. Kids in uniforms going to school going up and down many hills to get to school. The small villages are just like the Caribbean, a little Jamaica, Saint Kitts, Nevis, Dominica, etc. People walk all the time, no shorts, no topless, no MTV style here in Kenya. Nairobi is a mixture of the city of Miami and any other big city in the US, only with a lot and lots of black folk. No burger king, or KFC, Mickey D, or Starbucks. You see some Indian or Arab person, and a handful of white tourists.I wanted to express my thanks to those who helped support this mission thru your donations and prayers. We spent four days at the schools in Nairobi. It was a great experience. The school children were very excited about the items they received. They even modeled the dress. The school selected the neediest children for the dresses since we did not have enough for everyone. The boys got toothpaste and brushes, and the girls got the dresses and bracelets. I took pictures so I can show everyone when we return. The books and supplies got delayed by DHL and did not arrive by the time we were at the school. But Al & purchased some text books, work books and other small supplies and distributed the items. These items were right on point according the school administrators. The boxes should arrive in Nairobi tomorrow. So everyone should have the items donates. Once again, thanks. See you soon. Love Sobie
